This Saturday (2nd Oct) a ‘Family Man through the Ages Fun day’ will be held in Sunderland Museum and Winter Gardens with over 200 dads, male carers, children and family members due to attend from all over Sunderland.

The event has been organised as part of the ‘My Dad Matters in Sunderland’ programme which is delivered by Children North East Fathers Plus in Partnership with Sunderland Children’s trust.

The North East Regional Museums Hub and Fathers Plus are hosting the fun event which will take dads and kids from Sunderland back in time giving them the chance to meet dads from the past such as Egyptian dad, Roman dad, Iron Age dad, Victorian dad, Tudor dad and WW2 dad
They will also get the chance to meet Future dad and make futuristic music using wireless playstation controllers!
Dads and their families will also get the opportunity to find out about the other activities available as part of the ‘Every Dad Matters in Sunderland’ programme such as dads to be/new dads sessions, and martial arts classes.
There will also be fun stalls from organisations from all over Sunderland, such as Children’s Centres and family learning.
David Van Der Velde - Children North East Fathers Plus Service Manager commented.
“It’s really exciting to be holding an event like this in Sunderland. Since the My Dad Matters programme began early this year we have had an overwhelmingly positive response from local dads and today is a great opportunity to see just how important Sunderland men are to their children”
